5 Things Patelco Will Never Call and Ask

Fraudsters use all sorts of methods to steal information and gain access to 你r accounts — including pretending to be from Patelco or another financial institution. It’s rare that we will call 你, and if we do, we’ll 从来没有 ask for any of the information below. Beware of requests coming in via text message and email too — those are other ways that fraudsters are stealing information.

5 things we'll 从来没有 call (or text) and ask

While we may contact 你 regarding an account issue or to ask if 你 made a particular card transaction, we will 从来没有 contact 你 out of the blue and ask for any of these 5 things — ever.

  1. 你r card PIN
  2. 你r online banking password
  3. the CVV (3 digits) on the back of 你r card
  4. 你r full account (MICR) number
  5. personal information, like how long 你’ve been a Patelco member

Calls to 你 vs. calls to us

Remember that 你 can always make a call to us at 800.358.8228 and know that 你 are talking to the right person. When 你 call us (or card security), we might ask 你 some verifying questions including the information above — but we will 从来没有 call  and ask for that information! When in doubt, hang up and call us.

Because of the increase in spoofed caller ID, it’s possible that the fraudsters may even appear to be calling 你 from a Patelco phone number. But if they call 你 and ask for any of the 5 pieces of information above, 你 can be sure it’s a fraudster. When in doubt, hang up and call us.

Don't let fraudsters pressure

Fraudsters know we’re more likely to give up sensitive information if we feel threatened, pressured, or afraid. Beware of any threats to “immediately” close 你r account or block 你r card if 你 don’t provide certain information. When in doubt, hang up and call us.
